The DCSS Senior Boys Basketball Team returned from provincials in Langley earlier this week. The boys went 1 and 3 at the tournament and finished in 14th place. The boys were awarded with the most sportsmanlike team at the AAA provincials. This award is a great accomplishment and speaks to the character of the players on the team. The boys were also awarded the most sportsmanlike team at the zone tournament in Fort St John.
The team did a fantastic job representing our school, town and region at the provincial championships and everyone in the DCSS community is very proud of their efforts this season.
A huge thank you to the community sponsors who stepped up and supported our boys on short notice. Your support is greatly appreciated.
The boys travelled today to Langely in anticipation of the start of the AAA Boys Provincial Championship starting on Wednesday. Our first game is Wednesday at 6:45pm PST at Center Court against the #2 ranked Fleetwood Park (Surrey).
For those interested in watching the team play there is live streaming for $7 per day or $20 for full event pass. Check out www.tfsetv.ca to learn more. GO PENS GO!!!

Students at the South Peace Campus will start their day with a homeroom period where they will receive their second semester course timetables. Students will then follow a four-block schedule throughout the morning so they may have an opportunity to meet with their second semester teachers. The shorted morning blocks will allow teachers to provide students with information about the second semester classes. Students will find out what materials they require for their courses, the teacher’s expectations for behavior as well as a look at the individual course outcomes. We hope our students will start Tuesday, February 10th fully prepared for the second semester!
The South Peace Campus Open House will begin at with a public BBQ beginning between 11:45 and 12:00. The BBQ will be set up outside the concession assuming the weather permits; otherwise we will be set up down by our Auto-Mechanics shops. Classes at the South Peace Campus will resume as scheduled on the days provincial exams take place. Attendance will be taken during Exam Week. No new instruction will take place in classes between February 2-5. Students are encouraged to work with their classroom teachers to complete assignment work, projects and write final tests. The first day of the second semester will start unofficially on Friday, February 6 with our short block rotation morning followed by our open house.
Students writing provincial exams have met with Mrs. Smith regarding rules, regulations and expectations for the exams. Exams will take place regardless of the weather and/or busing notifications. In the event of a Non-Bus Day, students must make every (safe) effort to get to the school to write exams. Students are asked to be in the building ready to write a minimum of 10 minutes before exams are slated to begin.
